A BIG welcome back to all Wobbegongs Swim Club families for the remainder of the 2021-22 season! This brief email is an update from the club committee with a few key dates to add your calendars.

Despite the recent rainy days, we have had a spectacular few weeks of sun and warmth to kick off the new year. If this continues over the coming weeks, I’m sure we’ll have a great return to the swim season and see many new and old swimmers jumping back into the pool. We have our first club swim meet next Friday evening 11 Feb starting at 5.30pm. Please submit your event nominations using the SwimTopia app for swimmers wishing to come along next Friday.

There will be a classic Aussie BBQ for the first week back. At this early stage our MasterChef program will be re-considered on a weekly basis. We need parents/carers to put themselves forward to volunteer in the tuckshop (2 people) and for the barbecue (1 person). To volunteer you must be double vaccinated (requirement and proof) and complete the school’s mandatory induction training.

See attached our updated Covid plan for Wobbegongs Swim Club events. Over the coming weeks, we will limit the number of people attending our club nights to one parent/carer per child (max 2 adults per family) and encourage people to leave once their children's events are complete.

Squad training will resume in our second week back on Thu afternoon 17 Feb. Squad training places with supa-coach Jen are limited so get your nominations in early each week. Squad training places will be booked using the SwimTopia app just like event nominations. A follow-up email with squad information and instructions will be sent shortly.

Unfortunately, the inter-club swim carnival with Craigslea and Stafford, originally scheduled for 12 Feb. has been postponed. We will work with these clubs to find an alternate date later in the season and as life returns to normal. At this stage the next inter-club swim carnival is scheduled for Sat 12 March.

In other news, with the redevelopment of the old WSS changerooms well underway, swimmers are encouraged to arrive ready to swim in their swimwear. We have another toilet facility available at the school, however there is limited room and is both boys/girls. The Wobbegongs' website (www.wobbegongs.com.au) will be updated with some of this information and attachments for reference. Feedback is welcomed and we’ll send out a FAQ page to answer many of your questions.
